Howard University College of Medicine selects Harris Search Associates for Chief Administrative Officer, Faculty Practice Plan search
Howard University College of Medicine has selected Harris Search Associates to lead the search for the for the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Faculty Practice Plan. Reporting to the Dean of Medicine, Dr. Hugh Mighty, the CAO will have a unique opportunity to lead a 200 – physician faculty medical group in a highly integrated, effective and patient-centered, multi-specialty group practice within a unique and distinct community and culture.
The CAO is responsible for ensuring a robust, high quality, financially stable faculty practice to support the missions of the COM and HU Healthcare. The position includes responsibility for the enhancement of relationships within the medical community, affiliated hospitals and community clinical sites, third-party payers, and the public. The CAO will work with the Dean to establish practice development strategies, policy, procedure, physician compensation plans, as well as, financial, clinical, risk management, and operational goals. The CAO has management oversight of the central office units, including but not limited to fiscal, contracting, legal, revenue cycle, human resources, and general operations. The CAO leads feasibility study efforts to ensure efficient use of clinical facilities, fee schedules, monitors revenue and expenditure trends, and oversees service agreements and clinical research contracts. The CAO will also facilitate the setting of standards, coordination of practice activities, and marketing of the department clinical sites.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned academic physician executive with a strong understating of the evolving clinical practice environment, demonstrated leadership in practice plan administration, and revenue cycle management. An MD, DO or similar professional finance degree is required. Additional professional designations such as MPH, MBA or MHA, is preferred.
